The Quest for Water

I find it a little ironic that during a Beer and Wine Festival, all I really wanted to drink was water…twas the theme of the afternoon this past Saturday. Nothing like a 500 degree day (okay, it was only 88), lack of shaded areas to hide under (come on, Living Social, you couldn’t spring for at least one tent for festival-goers?), and endless beer and wine pours (no complaints here), to speed up the dehydration process. Now, from my extensive drinking experience, I knew that water was a necessity unless I wanted to end up in the tent with the red cross. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that you never want to be THAT girl who has to be carried to the tent with the red cross. To avoid that, we decided to head over to the water tent…at exactly the same time all 1039409 festival attendees decided to head over to the water tent:

Yes, the line to get water was longer than any line for alcohol. The heart wants what the heart wants… water, glorious water.

There was also a good group of food trucks posted up around the festival’s perimeter:

how fitting that the landscape even looks like we were in the desert...

Unfortunately, I didn’t halfway eat through a plate of food, only to remember that I blog now and should’ve taken a picture before digging in, as is usually the case. By some miracle, I was not…wait for it…hungry. Crazy, I know. Blame it on the heat.

We also acquired this bad boy. Lifesaver. And a nice way to make new friends.

Yes, we are circling a bag of ice like it is the greatest treasure we have ever possessed.

Here’s a rundown of the rest of the day’s events:

The bright side (quite literally): Not a cloud in the sky all day
The down side: Not a cloud in the sky all day

The bright side: Getting my tan on and turning 7 shades darker than I started out on Saturday morning
The down side: Probably developing cancerous skin cells

The bright side: Hanging out with friends all afternoon
The down side: Discussing only topics pertaining to the weather, lack of shade and amount of perspiration that was coming off of everyone

The bright side: Seeing the endless rows of port-a-potties and a lack of long lines
The down side: Only having to pee once the entire day (instead of the usual 23 times) due to dehydration and basically sweating out all of the liquid in my body. TMI? Sorry.

The bright side: Wearing a cute outfit. I thought that the watermelon colors were a nice summer touch.
The down side: SWEATING. Everywhere. TMI again? Sorry.

The bright side: THIS

couple of dudes with a couple of staches

The down side: None.
